Privacy Policy
This is a plain-language policy written by the Tizy team; a lawyer's review is pending.
What Tizy collects
Account, only if you sign in. Sign-in is through Google. Google tells us the email address and display name on your Google account, and that is what we store, together with the time the account was created and a role (user or admin). We never see your Google password. Venue accounts may instead sign in with a phone number verified through Google's Firebase; in that case we store the phone number and the name you enter.
A sign-in token, not a cookie. After you sign in, Tizy hands your browser or app a signed token that carries your user id, email and role. Tizy sets no cookies. In the web client the token sits in your browser's local storage and expires after 24 hours; in the venue desktop app it lasts 30 days and the app renews it on its own so a venue PC does not lose sign-in mid-night.
Location, in two tiers. When you open the map, the app asks Tizy's server for a rough location that Cloudflare derives from your internet connection (city, region, country and an approximate latitude and longitude). Tizy uses it once, to open the map near you, answers with a no-store header and does not save it. A precise position is requested only when your browser shows you its permission prompt and you allow it, which happens when you press the locate button or after about four minutes on the map. That precise position stays in your browser to move the map and place a marker; it is never sent to Tizy's servers. The pages named "near me" use the same connection-based location to redirect you to your nearest published city, and that redirect is neither cached nor stored.
Listening. Listening to a venue in the Tizy app needs no account. Tizy's API only brokers the audio connection and keeps no record of who listened. If you listen from a signed-in session in the older Tizy web client, the API can record which venue you tuned to, when you joined and left, and your browser's user-agent string.
Edge logs. tizy.app is served through Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare's edge sees your IP address, your browser's user-agent and the URL you asked for in order to deliver the page and to block abuse. Tizy adds no analytics or tracking script of its own to any page.
Browser storage. The app keeps a small settings object in your browser's local storage (map display settings). It never leaves your device.
Edge cache. Tizy caches rendered pages at the edge per city, never per person, so a cached page can never contain something about you.
What Tizy does not collect
- No advertising trackers, no Google Analytics, no Meta pixel, no session recording. There is no third-party analytics script anywhere on tizy.app or in the app.
- No cookies set by Tizy.
- No precise GPS on Tizy's servers. Your device position stays on your device.
- No payment details. Tizy takes no payments today; listening is free.
- No passwords. Sign-in is delegated to Google, or to Firebase phone verification for venues.
Third parties that receive your requests
Your browser or the app talks directly to a few services, each of which sees your IP address and applies its own privacy policy:
- Cloudflare: hosts tizy.app and its database and file storage, and its Realtime service carries live venue audio to your browser.
- Google: sign-in (Google OAuth), the web fonts the site and app load from fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com, and Firebase phone verification for venue accounts.
- CARTO: the map's base tiles come from basemaps.cartocdn.com. A small text-shaping script for the map is loaded from unpkg.com.
- Spotify: only if a venue chooses to connect its Spotify account in the desktop app.
Venue accounts and the desktop app
If you run a venue on Tizy, the desktop app streams your room's audio to Tizy's streaming server and on to listeners in real time. Tizy does not record the audio and keeps no copy of it. The app also reports to Tizy: when a stream starts and stops and for how long; the track your PC's media player is playing (title, artist, album and the source app) so listeners can see what is on; and the result of app updates (version numbers and whether the update succeeded). A venue's team members are linked to that venue by their user id.
Where venue and event information comes from
- Venue facts (name, address, category, opening hours, public ratings, photos, coordinates) come from public Google Maps listings. Logos and photos are copied to Tizy's file storage so the pages load fast.
- Events are aggregated from public listings, currently Resident Advisor, and event flyers are copied to Tizy's file storage.
- The Tizy Nightlife Index publishes computed scores about venues, which are businesses, not people, from public data under the rules at tizy.app/rating/methodology.
If you own a venue and want its listing corrected or removed, email hello@tizy.app with the page URL.
How long Tizy keeps data
Account records stay until you ask us to delete them. Stream, listener, now-playing and update logs are kept as operating history; Tizy has no automatic deletion schedule for them yet, and this page will say so when it does.
Your rights
Email hello@tizy.app from the address on your account to get a copy of what Tizy holds about you, to correct it, or to delete your account together with its records. We reply from Tel Aviv within 30 days. Israel's Privacy Protection Law applies to Tizy; if you are in the EU, the UK or California we will honour the equivalent access and deletion rights on request.
Children
Tizy is about nightlife and is for adults only: 18 and over everywhere, 21 and over where that is the legal drinking age. Tizy does not knowingly keep an account for anyone under 18; if one exists, email us and it will be deleted.
Changes to this policy
When this page changes, the date at the top changes with it. A change that affects what Tizy collects will also be noted on this page for a while after it lands.
